MAGA was simply a campaign slogan dreamed up by DJT's public relations team to fire up the uneducated and ignorant. America never was not great!

Thank you David! We need more positive journalism. Nearly everyone is a good person; only the “not so good folks” make the headlines.

David I so enjoy reading your post. And I concur wholeheartedly, America is GREAT! As a military brat I saw some of this globe. I started school in Wales, had second grade in London. Before I was eight, I had lived in two countries (England and America) and had visited at least 5 others. As an adult, I have lived in one more country, and have visited at least ten more. So far, I have driven my RV in all the lower 48 and am posted to visit Alaska this summer. I couldn't drive my RV to Hawaii, but I have visited three of the five major Hawaiian Islands. I can truly state America is beautiful.

There are a few things that you failed to mention in what America has given to the world. It is not only our "constitution" that is the gold standard, but also almost all other nations' national parks are modeled after ours. And not only did we give the world GPS (which every airliner flying uses to navigate) but we also gave the world the internet. (we might not have created the Wide World Web (WWW) but the "internet" itself was created by DARPA in the 1960's. (And no Al Gore did not create the internet (as claim during his campaign) but President Clinton did open it up to the public during his second administration. ) (The internet is a tool and just like guns can be used for good and bad depending on the person using it.)

There are a few things I would like to correct you on. First the English language. It is spoken all over the world not because of America, but more because of Great Britain. In 1938 it was true that the sun never set on the British Empire. Whatever hour of day, the sun is shining somewhere. And in that time zone, you would have found a portion of the British Empire. And where the British Empire was, there too was the language English. In 1940 arabic might have been spoken in Egypt, to do business with the government, you had to speak English. The same in Hong Kong. Second, immigration; In 1565 the city of St. Augustine FL was founded. The population of St. Augustine were immigrants. In 1776 a bunch of immigrants wrote the Declaration of Independence. Many immigrants settled in our United States before the 1800's. Most if not all were European.

On July 8th I will join up with a group of RVers and we will travel through Canada to Alaska. It will be a 62 day trip and will cover over 6,000 miles before I return to WA state. After that I will have driven through 49 of the 50 states and 8 Canadian provinces. And of course I will have visit all 50 states. After that, I'll think about travel abroad.

Hi, Joe. I never stated that English was dominant solely because of the USA's influence. Specifically, I wrote "This is at least partially a result of our films, music, literature, and sports spreading to other countries."

That was a great link. I didn't mean to discount what you said but to indicate it was missing the number one reason. The link pointed to a very real and good discussion. I wonder how much our films & music industries were helped because of English being such a dominate language after the World Wars.
